I'm a remote product designer, and over the years I've dialed in a setup that keeps me productive whether I'm at my desk or working from a coffee shop. Here's everything in my stack and why I chose it.
What hardware does a remote product designer use?
My main machine is a 13" MacBook Pro, though after a year I'd recommend going larger if you work from coffee shops like I do because the extra screen space is worth it. At home I connect to an LG ultrawide monitor, and I use Apple's Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard for everything.
- 13" Macbook Pro
- LG HDR WQHD Monitor (it's massive)
- Magic Trackpad 2
- Magic Keyboard
- AirPods Pro (First gen)
What desk accessories improve a remote work setup?
The biggest quality-of-life improvement was adding a wireless charger to my desk. My MacBook only has two USB-C ports, and both are taken when charging and using the display, so a wireless pad for my AirPods Pro and iPhone solved the charging problem completely. A laptop stand also made a noticeable difference for posture and airflow.

What apps do product designers use every day?
Figma is the center of my workflow for all design work. For project management, I use Coda at work and Notion for personal projects. I moved away from using Todoist as my hub and now use it strictly for quick task capture. Loom handles async communication, and Sip is my go-to color picker. Here's the full list:
